Illegally occupied land recovered in Cumilla

CUMILLA, Jan 8, 2026 (BSS) - The district administration has recovered government land worth approximately Taka one crore through an eviction drive conducted against illegal encroachers in Muradnagar upazila of the district.

The drive was carried out from Wednesday afternoon to night at Rajabari village under Akubpur union in Bangra Bazar Police Station area. Initiated by the Muradnagar Upazila Land Office, the operation was led by Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Md. Shakib Hasan Khan.

According to the Upazila Land Office, the eviction drive, conducted continuously from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, freed about 25 acres of government land along the Gazirhat–Shrikail road that had been under illegal occupation for a long time.

Following the complaint, the Upazila Land Office conducted several on-site inspections on the instructions of the district administration and submitted a report to the Deputy Commissioner. Approval for the eviction drive was later granted based on the report.

Speaking after the operation, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Md. Shakib Hasan Khan said the current market value of the recovered land in Bailaghar Mouza along the Gazirhat–Shrikail road is around Taka 1 crore.

He added that such eviction drives against illegal occupation of government land will continue in the future.
