CHATTOGRAM, Jan 08, 2026 (BSS)- Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested two main suspects in connection with the death of 12-year-old Srabanti Ghosh here two-days back.
 
The two suspects Pradeep Lal Ghosh and Ajay Singh were arrested from Bhandari Market of Lalkhan Bazar area in the city today.

RAB said Srabanti’s parents reside in a rented house near the Panir Tank area of Lalkhan Bazar under Khulshi thana. Both of them are garment workers. 

Srabonti used to stay with her grandparents home nearby during her parents’ office time. 

On Tuesday evening she returned back to her own house without informing anything to her grandparents. At about 11:30 pm she was found hanging from the ceiling of the house with a veil around her neck in her house. 

Srabonti’s mother Rosy Ghosh lodged a complaint with Khulshi thana naming the arrested youths and several other unidentified individuals as suspects involved with the incident.

Rosy Ghosh alleged that the child was raped and murdered and later the body was subsequently kept hanging. 

OC Jahedul Islam of Khulshi thana said an autopsy of the body was performed and an examination was carried out to ascertain whether the child was rapped. 

The definite cause of the child's death will be unearthed upon the autopsy report and other test results are available, the OC said adding police are looking into the matter with utmost importance.
