
KUSHTIA, Jan 15, 2026 (BSS) - The Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) Traffic Board today distributed cheques amounting to Taka 2.80 crore among victims of road accidents in Kushtia and Meherpur districts.
A cheque distribution programme was held at noon at the conference room of the Kushtia Deputy Commissioner’s office. BRTA Chairman (Additional Secretary) Abu Momtaz Saad Uddin Ahmed attended the programme as the chief guest.
A total of 70 cheques were handed over to families of deceased victims and to injured persons from the two districts. Of the total amount, Taka 1.98 crore was distributed through 48 cheques in Kushtia district. Among them, Taka 23 lakh was provided to 13 injured victims, while Taka 1.75 crore was given to the families of 35 deceased victims.
In Meherpur district, Taka 82 lakh was distributed through 22 cheques. Of this amount, Taka 12 lakh was given to eight injured persons and Taka 70 lakh to the families of 14 deceased victims.
The programme was presided over by Kushtia Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Md Iqbal Hossain. Senior officials of the district administration and BRTA were also present.
The programme was jointly organised by the Kushtia District Administration and BRTA, Kushtia.
