Two brothers held with huge foreign-made weapons, equipment in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, Jan 17, 2026 (BSS) - Boalkhali Army Camp apprehended two brothers with a significant quantity of foreign-made weapons and equipment during a raid conducted in Horarbag area of Sarwatoli Union within the Boalkhali upazila of the district last night.

This operation, led by Lieutenant Colonel Salahuddin Al Mamun, the Commanding Officer (CO) of the Ad Hoc 48 Air Defense Regiment, resulted in the arrest of the suspects, Salahuddin Rumi, 51, and Saiful Islam Bappi, 56.

They were taken into custody along with four foreign-made shotguns, two foreign-made pistols, two magazines, 13 rounds of bullets, and a substantial amount of materials used for weapon manufacturing.

Confirming the situation, Camp Commander Major Md. Russell Prodhan stated that there are six cases, including a weapons-related case, against Salahuddin Rumi, and four cases, also including a weapons-related case, against Saiful Islam Bappi.

They were engaged in the manufacture of home-made firearms and participated in the trade of weapons to various organised terrorist factions in Chattogram, including Boalkhali. 

These two individuals are the sons of late Abul Bashar from the Horarbagh area of Sarwatoli Union under the upazila. 

The duty officer at Boalkhali thana reported that they have been transferred 
to Boalkhali Police Station for further legal proceedings.
