DINAJPUR, Jan 18, 2026 (BSS) - Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) have recovered firearms and ammunition during a special operation in Sadar upazila of the district.

A foreign-made pistol, a locally made one-shooter gun, a magazine and seven rounds of live bullets were recovered in an abandoned condition, said Kumar Goswami, Senior Assistant Director of the Public Relations Department of RAB-13, Dinajpur Camp, in a press release issued here on Sunday afternoon.

According to the release, a team of the RAB-13 conducted the operation early Sunday morning based on secret information. The raid was carried out on the western side of the Dinajpur-Dashamile paved road in the Uttar Gobindapur area of Sadar upazila.

During the operation, the law enforcers recovered the weapons and ammunition from a bag left abandoned in a local market at the scene.

"The recovered arms were handed over to Dinajpur Kotwali Police Station this noon for necessary legal proceedings," the release said, adding that a case has been filed under the Arms Act against unidentified persons in connection with the recovery.
