
JASHORE, Jan 18, 2026 (BSS) – The two-day “Election Journalism Training” for local journalists begun today aimed at enhancing the professional skills of journalists ahead of the upcoming general elections.
Organized by the Press Institute Bangladesh (PIB), the training is being held at the Jashore PTI auditorium and brings together 50 journalists from Jashore and Narail districts.
The programme seeks to equip journalists with the knowledge and tools needed to present objective and responsible reporting during the election period.
On the opening day, participants engaged in detailed discussions on the integrated role of political parties, civil society, administration, law enforcement agencies, election observers, and the media as “partners in elections.” A special session titled ‘Referendum-2026: The Key to the Country is in Your Hands’ highlighted the significance of elections and citizens’ voting rights.
Harun Jamil, Executive Editor of Dhaka Mail, conducted a session on the responsibilities of journalists in electoral management and discussed the ‘Code of Conduct for Political Parties and Candidates-2025.’
The programme was inaugurated by Zahid Hasan Tukun, President of Press Club Jashore, and moderated by SM Touhidur Rahman, the club’s General Secretary. PIB trainer Zilhas Uddin Nipun and other officials were also present.
According to the organizers, the two-day training will provide hands-on guidance on election-time journalism challenges, reporting techniques, and physical and digital security measures for journalists.
