
CHANDPUR, Jan 21, 2026 (BSS) - A total of 35 candidates will contest in the five parliamentary constituencies of Chandpur in the 13th National Parliament election as deadline for withdrawal of nomination papers ended yesterday (January 20).
According to the office of the District Returning Officer, there is one Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) candidate in each of the five constituencies. Jamaat-e-Islami has fielded candidates in three constituencies, while the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), representing the 10-party alliance, has candidates in two constituencies.
In Chandpur-1 (Kachua) constituency, the contesting candidates are BNP-nominated ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Abu Nasr Mohammad Maqbul Ahmed, Jatiya Party’s Habib Khan, Gono Odhikar Parishad’s Md Enayet Hossain, Bangladesh Islami Front’s Mohammad Nasir Uddin, and Gono Forum’s Mohammad Azad Hossain.
In Chandpur-2 (Matlab North and Matlab South), the candidates are BNP nominee Dr Md Jalal Uddin, 10-Party Alliance (LDP) candidate Md Billal Hossain, Islami Andolan Bangladesh’s Mansur, Jatiya Party’s Md Emran Hossain Mia, Bangladesh Republican Party’s Md Faizunnur, Gono Odhikar Parishad’s Md Golap Hossain, Bangladesh Labor Party’s Nasima Naznin Sarkar, and Nagorik Oikya’s Md Enamul Haque.
The candidates contesting in Chandpur-3 (Sadar–Haimchar) constituency are BNP nominee Sheikh Farid Ahmed, Jamaat-e-Islami’s Md Shahjahan Mia, Islami Andolan Bangladesh’s Joynal Abedin Sheikh, Gono Forum’s Selim Akbar, Gono Odhikar Parishad’s Md Zakir Hossain, Bangladesh Islamic Front’s A H M Ahsan Ullah, and Bangladesh Communist Party’s Md Jahangir Hossain.
In Chandpur-4 (Faridganj) constituency, BNP nominee Md Harunur Rashid, Jamaat-e-Islami nominee Md Billal Hossain Miyaji, Jatiya Party’s Mahmud Alam, Islami Andolan Bangladesh’s Maqbul Hossain, independents M A Hannan and Zakir Hossain, Gono Forum’s Md Munir Chowdhury, and Bangladesh Islamic Front’s Abdul Malek Bulbul are in the race.
Meanwhile, in Chandpur-5 (Haziganj–Shahrasti) constituency, the candidates are BNP nominee Md Mominul Haque, 10-Party Alliance candidate Md Neyamul Bashir, Islami Andolan Bangladesh’s Mohammad Ali Patwari, Jatiya Party’s Mirza Gias Uddin, Islamic Front Bangladesh’s Syed Bahadur Shah Mujaddidi, and Insaniat Biplob Bangladesh’s Md Mahmud Hasan Nayon.
