DHAKA, Jan 21, 2026 (BSS) - The government has decided to provide a total of Taka 2 crore in financial assistance to the family of Inqilab Mancha Convener Shaheed Sharif Osman Hadi, including Taka 1 crore for purchasing a flat in Dhaka and another Taka 1 crore for livelihood support.

Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed disclosed the decision while speaking to journalists today after chairing a meeting on the Advisers Council Committee on Government Purchase held at the Cabinet Division Conference Room at Bangladesh Secretariat.

Responding to a question, the Finance Adviser said two separate allocations had been made for Hadi’s family.

“Taka one crore will be given from the Ministry of Finance for purchasing a flat or house. The entire amount may not be required. Another Taka one crore is being provided separately from the Chief Adviser’s fund for livelihood of Hadi’s,” he said.

Dr Salehuddin confirmed that the Ministry of Finance had already approved allocation of Taka 1 crore for housing purposes.

Sharif Osman Bin Hadi had earlier announced his intention to contest the 13th Jatiya Sangsad election as an independent candidate from the Dhaka-8 constituency.

On December 12, a day after the election and referendum schedules were announced, Hadi was shot in the Box Culvert Road area under Paltan Model Police Station in Dhaka.

He was initially taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in critical condition, where he underwent surgery, before being shifted to Evercare Hospital for advanced treatment.

On December 15, Hadi was flown to Singapore by air ambulance and admitted to Singapore General Hospital. He died there on December 18 at around 9:30pm while undergoing treatment.
