National library day observed in Magura

MAGURA, Feb 5, 2026 (BSS) - National Library Day-2026 was observed in Magura today with a discussion meeting, prize distribution ceremony, and a colorful rally under the theme "Knowledge is Liberation, the Foundation of the Future."

The discussion and prize-giving program was held at 10:00 am at the Revenue Branch Hall of the Deputy Commissioner's Office, jointly organized by the District Administration and the District Government Public Library, Magura.

Mohammad Habibur Rahman, Librarian of the District Government Public Library, presided over the meeting. Additional Deputy Commissioner Abdul Qader attended as the chief guest.

Professor Abu Sayeed Molla of the English Department of Government Hossain Shaheed Suhrawardy College, Assistant Director of the District Social Services Office Zahidul Alam, and District Information Officer Pavel Das spoke as special guests. 

They emphasized that fostering reading habits and the practice of knowledge can help build an enlightened and humane society, and called for further strengthening of public library activities to engage the younger generation.

Prizes were distributed among winners of various competitions following the discussion.

Earlier, a colorful rally was organized, starting from the Revenue Building of the Deputy Commissioner's Office and moving through major streets of the town before concluding at the same venue. 

Students from different educational institutions, guardians, officials, and employees from government and non-government offices, along with other participants, joined the programme.
