COX'S BAZAR, Feb 5, 2026 (BSS) - Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Standing Committee Member and Cox's Bazar-1 constituency candidate Salahuddin Ahmed today said a fair price of salt will be ensured if the BNP comes to power.

"Whenever the BNP is in power, salt workers in the country receive fair prices for the salt they produce. At present, there is no fair price for salt. In Dhaka, people buy salt at Tk 40 per kilogram, while salt farmers here do not even receive Tk 10 per kilogram. This is extreme discrimination," he said.

He made these remarks this evening while addressing a public rally as the chief guest at the field of Mognama High School, organised jointly by Mognama and Ujantia Union BNP units.

Salahuddin said BNP is synonymous with democracy, and democracy is synonymous with BNP.

"We have presented a roadmap to the people outlining where we want to take the country. We will issue family cards for the poor. We will eradicate poverty and bring economic prosperity to the country. But our rivals who are contesting the election have no plan for the people of this country," he said.

Upazila BNP President M Bahadur Shah, Upazila BNP General Secretary Iqbal Hossain, former Upazila Parishad Chairman Shafayet Aziz Raju, District Ulema Dal President Ali Hasan Chowdhury, Upazila BNP Organising Secretary Z M Musalem Uddin, Women's Affairs Secretary Sabina Yasmin Jinu, Magnama Union BNP President Faisal Chowdhury, Ujantia Union BNP President Rezaul Karim Mintu, and Upazila Jubo Dal Convener Kamran Jadid Mukut, among others, also spoke.

Later, around 7:00 pm, Salahuddin Ahmed took part in a views-exchange meeting with traders of Pekua Alhaj Kabir Ahmed Chowdhury Bazar. On the occasion, he said that if the BNP comes to power, it will work for the welfare of people from all walks of life, including businesspeople.
