DHAKA, Feb 5, 2026 (BSS) - Valiant Freedom Fighter Abdus Salam, Adviser to the BNP Chairman and Chief Coordinator of Tarique Rahman's Election Management Committee for the Dhaka-17 constituency, today sought vote for 'Sheaf of Paddy' symbol to ensure BNP's victory in the polls for taking the country forward.

He made the remarks at the inauguration ceremony of the election theme song at the BNP's main election management office for the Dhaka-17 constituency in Banani, the capital.

Abdus Salam said BNP's victory must be achieved through collective efforts, as this victory is extremely important for the country and its people.

Speaking about the overall situation of the country, he said a certain quarter wants to push the country backward, while the BNP always thinks for taking the country forward. 

The core objective of BNP politics, he said, is to work for the welfare of the people, for the people, and for the country.

Abdus Salam said in every critical moment, the BNP stood by the people and provided successful leadership. 

Referring to the leadership of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, he said when the country was known as a 'bottomless baske'" and people were dying of hunger, Ziaur Rahman led the nation. 

Later, during another crisis, Begum Khaleda Zia also led the country out of that situation, he said.

Referring to the current situation, he said the country's crisis has not yet ended. "Democracy has not yet been restored, people's fundamental rights have not been ensured, and Bangladesh's normal relations with the rest of the world have not yet been established. To resolve these problems, an elected government is necessary, and that government must be a BNP government," he said.

BNP Chairman's Adviser Nazimuddin Alam, singer Baby Naznin, and leaders from various levels of the party were present on the occasion.
