Firearms seized in Benapole border area

JASHORE, Feb 9, 2026 (BSS) - Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in a special operation seized firearms and ammunition in Benapole border area of Sharsha upazila in the early hours of today.

Lieutenant Colonel Saifullah Siddiqui, commander of Jashore Battalion (49 BGB), confirmed the matter.

According to BGB sources, a special patrol team from Benapole Border Outpost (BOP) conducted the operation around 4:00 am in Gatipara village under Benapole Port Police Station. 

During the operation, the team recovered two foreign made pistols, one magazine and two rounds of ammunition in the abandoned area near the gate of an unused building along the Gatipara-Daulatpur road.

Lieutenant Colonel Saifullah Siddiqui said that the seized weapons and ammunition have been handed over to Benapole Port Police Station.

A case has been filed in connection, he added.
