
CHATTOGRAM, Feb 18, 2026 (BSS)- Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) today arrested two individuals with two foreign-made pistols and 56 rounds of ammunition from the Bayazid Bostami Police Station of the city.
The operation was carried out by RAB-7, led by Captain Lieutenant Colonel Md. Hafizur Rahman, who confirmed the arrests in a press conference. The suspects were apprehended during a raid on a multi-storey building near Bayazid Link Road at 6 am.
The arrested individuals are Imtiaz Sultan Ikram, 28, who is wanted in four cases in the Muradpur area of Panchlaish Police Station and Abul Kalam Azad, 62, from Bibirhat area of the same police station.
Lt. Col. Hafizur Rahman stated that Imtiaz Sultan Ikram is a known figure in criminal circles in Chattogram, based on local sources and initial investigations.
He was a close aide of Sarwar Babla, who was shot by terrorists during a public gathering in Chattogram-8 constituency on November 5 last year. He used to demand subscriptions from businessmen in the Middle East and in Bangladesh, using internet calls, foreign numbers, WhatsApp, and Messenger.
He was also involved in running a teenage gang called 'Rich Kids'.
The arrested other person is Abul Kalam Azad, Imtiaz's close aide and personal driver, who helped in collecting subscription money.
The assistant director of RAB-7 stated that Imtiaz Sultan Ikram had information against him in various police stations of Chattogram district and metropolis for crimes including weapons possession, murder, attempted murder, sabotage, and extortion.
Legal action against those arrested is currently underway, he added.
