MADARIPUR, Feb 20, 2026 (BSS) - Police arrested four individuals, including a fugitive accused in 13 cases during a special drive in Madaripur on Thursday night.

The arrestees - Antor Kabiraj, Rubel Bepari, Liton Bepari and Roman Sardar - were allegedly preparing to commit a robbery at a gold shop in the Puratan Bazar area, said Additional Superintendent of Police Jahangir Alam.

Acting on a tip-off around 3:10 am, police conducted a raid in the area. Sensing the presence of law enforcers, several accomplices fled, but the four were detained from the spot. Besides, locally made weapons, including machetes and knives, were seized.

Police said Antor Kabiraj faces 13 cases, including theft, snatching, narcotics, extortion, assault on police and explosives charges. The others also have multiple cases against them.

A case has been filed with Sadar Police Station and the arrested individuals were sent to court.
