2 killed, 4 injured in Gaibandha road accident

GAIBANDHA, Feb 24, 2026 (BSS) - Two passengers of a battery-run easy bike were killed and four others injured in a road accident at the Shana Filling Station area near Sadullapur upazila town in the district this afternoon.

The deceased were identified as auto driver Al-Amin, 30, son of Belal Hossain, a resident of Taraf Bazit village under Jamalpur union and Gautam Chandra, 60, son of Narayon Chandra of Purba Para, Gaibandha town.

Eyewitnesses said a covered van was heading towards Gaibandha town from Sadullapur upazila town. When the vehicle reached the filling station area, it collided head-on with the auto while giving side to a CNG-run auto-rickshaw, leaving two passengers of the auto dead on the spot and four others injured.

Locals rushed to the scene, rescued the injured and took them to the upazila health complex. Two critically injured persons were later referred to Rangpur Medical College Hospital.

Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Shaeen-ul-Islam confirmed the incident.
