BPC fined Tk 960,000 for cutting hills in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, Feb 24, 2026 (BSS) -  The Department of Environment has fined the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) Tk 960,000 for illegally cutting hills in Chattogram city. 

The fine was imposed today at 11 am after an on-site inspection confirmed the allegations. 

The department has also ordered to stop the work. Sonia Sultana, Director of the City Office of the Department of Environment, confirmed that hills were cut illegally in the Joy Pahar residential area. 

BPC Deputy General Manager SM Zubair Hasan and Low-level Assistant Md. Shihab Uddin were present at the department’s inspection and hearing.
