Youth arrested with firearm, bullets in Munshiganj

 MUNSHIGANJ, Feb 28, 2026 (BSS) - Police in a drive arrested a youth along with a firearm and ammunition from the Nahapara area of Bajrayogini Union in Sadar Upazila here early this morning.
 
The arrestee was identified as Md Asib Howlader, 19, son of Md. Touhid Howlader of Hazariganj under Char Fasson Upazila in Bhola district. He was residing in Nahapara village under Sadar Police Station in Munshiganj.
 
Acting on a tip-off, a police team conducted a raid at the house of one Babu Munshi in Nahapara around 2:30 am and arrested Asib. Following his confessional statement, the police recovered a pistol and ammunition, said Officer-in-Charge Md. Mominul Islam of Sadar Police Station.
 
Sensing the presence of law enforcers, Babu Munshi managed to flee the scene.
 
A case was filed against the accused under the Arms Act with Sadar Police Station. Further investigation is underway.
