Two brick kiln owners fined Tk 7 lakh in Chandpur

CHANDPUR, March 3, 2026 (BSS) - A mobile court, conducted jointly by the Chandpur District Administration and the Department of Environment, imposed a fine of Taka 7 lakh on two illegal brick kiln owners in the Matlab Uttar upazila of the district this afternoon. 

The operation was carried out as part of a crackdown on unlicensed brick kilns violating environmental regulations.

The mobile court was led by Md. Masud Rana, Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate at the District Commissioner's Office.

According to the mobile court, the two brick kilns were fined for operating without proper permits, in violation of the Brick Manufacturing and Kiln Establishment (Control) Act. M/s Matin Monowar Bricks was fined Taka 5 lakh and M/s Torki Bricks was fined Taka 2 lakh. The fines were collected on the spot.

Md. Mizanur Rahman, Assistant Director of the Department of Environment's District Office, emphasized that such operations will continue to ensure environmental protection and uphold the law against illegal brick kiln operations in the future.
