Three brick kilns fined Tk 9 lakh in Munshiganj for illegal operation

MUNSHIGANJ, March 3, 2026 (BSS) - A mobile court led by the Sirajdikhan upazila administration fined three brick kilns a total of Taka 9 lakh on Tuesday for operating without permission and using topsoil from agricultural land.

The drive was conducted in the Latabdi and Balurchar brick kiln areas under the leadership of Sirajdikhan Upazila Executive Officer Rumpa Ghosh.

During the operation, the mobile court fined Taka 2 lakh each to Boni Amin, manager of Messrs. Khoshal Madbar Bricks, and Lalon, manager of Messrs. Samad Bricks. Imtiaz Mamun, manager of Ecoceramics Limited, was fined Taka 5 lakh. 

The penalties were imposed for manufacturing bricks without approval from the district administration and for using fertile topsoil from agricultural land.

Assistant Commissioner (Land) Md. Touhidul Islam, Senior Chemist of the Department of Environment Md. Chanowar Hossain, and members of Sirajdikhan Police Station were present during the drive.

Officials said such operations will continue to prevent environmental degradation and ensure compliance with existing regulations.
