Fine imposed during market monitoring in Puthia

RAJSHAHI, March 3, 2026 (BSS) – The upazila administration conducted a drive in Puthia upazila to evict illegal structures built on temple land.

The special operation to recover the land was carried out today at the intersection of the Puthia–Taherpur road.

An anti-adulteration market monitoring drive was also conducted at different locations across the upazila in the afternoon.

The operation was led by Assistant Commissioner (Land) of Puthia Upazila Shibu Das.

During the drive, it was found that permanent structures were being constructed in violation of regulations on land allocated for the temple. The construction work was immediately halted.

The accused individual was fined Tk 20,000 for illegally occupying government and religious property. He was also instructed to remove all illegal structures at his own expense within the next five working days.

Shibu Das said such drives to protect khas land and property belonging to religious institutions would continue in the future.
