
RANGPUR, Mar 3, 2026 (BSS) - A divisional child protection and advocacy
network meeting was held in Rangpur city, calling on everyone to play a
responsible role in child protection, not by enforcing the law, but by
raising awareness.
Non-governmental development organization World Vision Bangladesh (WVB)
organised the daylong meeting at the RDRS Begum Rokeya Auditorium on Tuesday.
Rangpur Divisional Local Government Director Md Abu Jafar as the chief guest
attended the meeting moderated by World Vision official Pallab Kanti Roy.
The meeting, moderated by World Vision official Pallab Kanti Roy, was
attended by special guests including
Department of Social Services Rangpur Divisional Director Mst Jilufa Sultana,
Divisional Health Director Dr Gausul Azam Chowdhury, Islamic Foundation
Divisional Director Mostafa Mansur Alam Khan, Rangpur Divisional Deputy
Director of the Department of Inspection for Factories and Establishments Md
Al Amin, World Vision Senior Manager Uttam Das and World Vision Advocacy and
Child Protection Department Coordinator Tanjimul Islam addressed the event as
special guests.
The speakers emphasized the need to introduce mid-day meals at school level
to prevent child marriage, increase awareness among parents, and enforce the
law.
They suggested providing financial and educational support to children
engaged in various activities to end child labor, helping them return to
school, and raising awareness among parents and business people about child
protection.
In addition, the speakers made various recommendations on creating a child-
friendly environment, preventing dropouts, and meeting the food and
nutritional needs of children.
At this time, WVB officials said that the organization is working towards
zero child marriage, zero child labor, zero dropouts, zero hunger, zero
malnutrition, and zero carbon emissions in child protection.
Senior officials of various government departments and 18 NGOs, leaders of
children and youth organizations, religious leaders, teachers, students, and
media workers participated in the programme.
