
NARSINGDI, Mar 3, 2026 (BSS) - A mobile court has fined three pharmacies a
total of Taka one lakh in Narsingdi town for various irregularities.
The drive was conducted on Tuesday afternoon in the Sangita bazar area to
prevent malpractice in pharmacies and dispensaries. In three separate cases,
three establishments were fined during the drive.
The mobile court was led by Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate
Md. Mehedi Hasan Patowary. The prosecution was conducted by the Department of
Drug Administration, Narsingdi.
During the drive, the authorities found multiple irregularities, including
the sale of government-supplied medicines, storage of expired and banned
drugs, sale of physician sample medicines, and the sale, storage and display
of antibiotics and other medicines without prescriptions from registered
physicians, except for over-the-counter (OTC) drugs.
Executive Magistrate Md. Mehedi Hasan Patowary said that three separate cases
were filed against the establishments for violating the law, and fines
totaling Taka 10,000 were realized.
He also urged other pharmacy owners and the public to refrain from buying and
selling such medicines and warned them to conduct business in compliance with
the relevant laws. He added that such drives would continue in the public
interest.
