NARSINGDI, March 8, 2026 (BSS) - A mobile court in Manohardi upazila here sentenced two men to one and a half months of simple imprisonment for consuming ganja and creating disorderly behaviour.

The drive was conducted on Sunday afternoon in the Dongipara area under Charmandalia union of the upazila.

The convicted individuals were identified as Md. Kajol (60), son of Mohor Ali and Borhan (45), son of Abdul Ali. Both are residents of the Charmandalia area of Manohardi upazila.

According to mobile court sources, acting on a tip-off, a team conducted a raid in the Dongipara area where the two men were caught red-handed while consuming ganja. Several items used for taking the drug were also seized from their possession.

The seized items included a kolki (smoking pipe), a gas lighter, a cutter and a small quantity of ganja.

Following the raid, the mobile court found them guilty of drug consumption and disorderly conduct. Each was sentenced to one and a half months of simple imprisonment and fined Tk 100 on the spot.

The operation was led by Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Md. Sajib Mia of Manohardi upazila.

Inspector Md. Mofazzal Hossain of the Department of Narcotics Control, Narsingdi, served as the prosecutor during the drive, while members of the police and Ansar assisted in the operation.
