MANIKGANJ, Mar 9, 2026 (BSS) - Ferry services on the Paturia-Daulatdia route resumed this morning after remaining suspended for about three hours due to dense fog.

Ferry movement on the route resumed around 9:00 am as visibility improved following the disruption caused by thick fog, said Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) Paturia Ghat Deputy General Manager (DGM) Abdus Salam.

All ferries are now operating normally with full loads of vehicles and passengers, he added.

During the suspension period, four ferries - Shah Mokdum, Bhaigar, Bir Shreshtha Jahangir and Bonolota - remained stranded at Paturia Ghat.

At Daulatdia Ghat, four ferries - Language Martyr Shaheed Barkat, Golam Maula, Shah Keramat Ali and Hasna Hena - were stuck due to the suspension.

Besides, a RoRo ferry, Shah Paran, remained anchored in the middle of the Padma River with vehicles and passengers on board.

Meanwhile, ferry movement on the Aricha-Kazirhat route also resumed after about two and a half hours of suspension caused by dense fog.
