Prayer, iftar mahfil held in Bagerhat seeking peace for Khaleda Zia

BAGERHAT, March 15, 2026 (BSS) - A prayer and iftar mahfil was held here today, praying for the departed soul of former three-time Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia.

Majeda Begum Foundation hosted the programme at its building in Muniganj area of the town in the afternoon, with journalists working in Bagerhat in attendance.

Earlier in the day, a Quran Khani program was held, followed by Milad and a special prayer session.

Majeda Begum Foundation Chairman M. A. Salam attended the program as the chief guest.

Salam said Khaleda Zia had played a significant role in establishing democracy in Bangladesh and safeguarding the rights of the people. He added that she worked for the welfare of the country and its citizens throughout her long political career.

He further said that people from all walks of life should come forward to support humanitarian and welfare activities. The Majeda Begum Foundation, he noted, would continue to carry out various social and humanitarian initiatives for the welfare of people in the future.

Local BNP leaders, social workers, journalists, among others, attended the event.
