Woman killed in Jhenaidah road accident

JHENAIDAH, March 18, 2026 (BSS) - A 45-year-old woman was killed and her son injured in a road accident in Maheshpur upazila of the district this morning.

The deceased was identified as Fuljhuri Begum, wife of Fakir Ahmed and a resident of Nimtala village in the upazila.

According to police, the accident occurred in front of Khalishpur Cold Storage along the Jhenaidah–Chuadanga highway.

Maheshpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mehedi Hasan said Fuljhuri Begum was travelling by van with her son, Lavlu, to visit a doctor when an oil truck coming from the opposite direction hit the vehicle, killing her on the spot.

Lavlu sustained serious injuries and was initially treated locally. As his condition deteriorated, he was later transferred to a hospital in Jessore for advanced treatment.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer Khadija Akhter visited the hospital following the incident and assured that necessary medical care and support would be provided to the injured and the victim’s family.
