GAZIPUR, March 23, 2026 (BSS) - A woman was killed in a road accident on the Tongi-Ghorashal road in Kaliganj upazila of the district on Sunday evening.

The deceased was Mosammat Zohra Begum, 32, daughter of Safur Uddin of Amdia Belaid area under Madhabdi Police Station in Narsingdi district.

The accident occurred when an auto autorickshaw hit the woman as she was crossing the road after celebrating Eid at Safari Park.  

Kaliganj Police Station SI Riyadul Islam told BSS that about 40 residents of Madhabdi area including Zohra Begum had gone on a trip to Gazipur Safari Park on Sunday morning. She died on the spot after getting off the bus and crossing the road in the Chuariakhola area of Tongi-Ghorashal road in the evening.

He added that the autorickshaw has been seized. Efforts are on to identify and arrest the driver.
 

The body of the deceased has been handed over to his relatives.
