
BARISHAL, March 22, 2026 (BSS) - Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapan today underscored the need for maintaining professionalism, objectivity, journalistic ethics and principles while presenting news.
“Journalists must maintain objectivity and professionalism in presenting news,” he said while speaking as the chief guest at an Eid reunion event organized by the Agailjhara Press Club in the district.
He said if anyone gets involved in blackmailing people in the name of journalism, he or she will be treated accordingly.
The minister urged the journalists and all other stakeholders to play a responsible role to keep dignity of journalism.
Crime Reporters Association of Bangladesh (CRAB) General Secretary MM Badsha, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Likhon Banik, BNP Upazila Acting Convener Shikder Hafizul Islam, Member Secretary Molla Bashir Ahmed Panna, and former presidents of Agailjhara Press Club Sardar Harun Rana and Md. Saiful Islam, Vice President Md. Masum Howladar, among others, were present.
Agailjhara Press Club President Md. Shamimul Islam Shamim chaired the programme which was conducted by its General Secretary FM Nazmul Ripon.
