Motorbike kills man hitting at Gabtoli bus stand

DHAKA, March 24, 2026 (BSS) - A 40-year-old man was killed after being struck by a speeding motorbike while crossing the road at Gabtoli bus stand area in Darussalam of the capital.

The deceased was identified as Mohammad Jiban, a passenger bus driver and son of Abdul Gafur from Tupa Mara village in Nilphamari Sadar Upazila. 

He was an inhabitant of Gabtoli area.

According to Mohammad Sajumia, a neighbor took him to the hospital, the accident occurred late at night when Jiban was crossing the road near Gabtoli bus stand. 

A reckless motorbike hit him, leaving him critically injured.

He was first rushed to Shaheed Suhrawardy Hospital. 

Due to his deteriorating condition, doctors later referred him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for advanced treatment.

Jiban was brought to the emergency department of DMCH around 2:30 am today, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.

Inspector Mohammad Faruk, in-charge of the DMCH police camp, confirmed that the body has been kept at the hospital morgue for autopsy. 

He added that the matter has been reported to the concerned police station for further legal action.
