RAB arrests a youth in extortion case in Khulna

KHULNA, March 24, 2026 (BSS) – Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-6) arrested alleged armed extortionist Chayan Bepari from Rupsha Bus Stand area under Rupsha Police Station in Khulna metropolis.

Acting on a tip-off, a special team of CPC Special Company conducted a drive in the Rupsha Bus Stand adjacent area on Monday afternoon and detained Md. Chayan Bepari, 20, a listed fugitive and the prime accused in an extortion case filed with Sadar Police Station, said a press release of RAB-6 today.

Chayan, son of Golam Mostafa of Khulna, had been on the run in connection with a case involving unlawful assembly, trespassing, assault, extortion, and vandalism of property.

RAB said the arrestee had been accused of multiple extortion activities in the area. 

Analysis of video footage dated March 1, 2026, reportedly shows him repeatedly stabbing a youth, leaving him seriously injured.

Law enforcers said the arrest of the accused has brought relief among local residents who had been frigten by his alleged criminal activities.

Chayan has been handed over to Sadar Police Station for further legal action, the release added.
