Masud Uddin Chowdhury on 5-day remand in Tk 24,000 cr embezzlement case

DHAKA, Mar 24, 2026 (BSS) - A Dhaka court today placed former Feni-3 lawmaker Lt Gen (Retd) Masud Uddin Chowdhury on five-day remand in a case accusing him of syndicating and embezzling Taka 24,000 crore and human trafficking.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Aminul Islam Zunayed passed the order after police produced the accused before the court and pleaded for a five-day remand in the case. 

A team of the Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police detained Chowdhury during a raid conducted in the Baridhara DOHS area of the capital on Monday night, following a tip-off. 

Afia Overseas Proprietor Altab Khan filed the case with the capital’s Paltan Police Station on September 3, 2024.
