Two minor children drown in Barishal

BARISHAL, March 24, 2026 (BSS) – Two children drowned in a pond of West Bhurghata village under Khanjapur union of Gournadi upazila of the district on Tuesday morning. 

The deceased were Ramzan Howlader, 03, son of Kawsar Howlader of the village and Mohammad Mridha, 3, son of Bahadur Mridha, a resident of Goyal village under Agailjhara upazila of the district. They were cousins. 

The incident took place at around 9:45 am on Tuesday, in the village. 

According to local sources, around 9 am, Ramzan and Mohammad went out together in the yard of the village. After a while, they fell into a pond near the village without anyone noticing the incident.

 After searching for them, Ramzan and Mohammad were rescued and taken to the Kalkani Upazila Health Complex in Madaripur where the on duty doctor declared the two children dead. 

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Gournadi Police Station Tarki Hasan Rasel confirmed the matter.
