Indian envoy meets health minister

DHAKA, March 24, 2026 (BSS) - Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pranay Verma today paid a courtesy call on Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Husain at the Secretariat here. 

During the meeting, they discussed expanding cooperation in healthcare sector, particularly in AI-enabled services and medical education to strengthen affordable healthcare systems in Bangladesh and India. 

They also discussed capacity building, linkages with the pharmaceutical industry, medical education and cooperation in the digital healthcare sector based on common priorities and mutual interests. 

Besides, they discussed various issues, including strengthening India-Bangladesh cooperation in the public health sector, exchanges in medical research and advanced medical services, cancer treatment, traditional medicine and people-centric initiatives to meet the needs of affordable healthcare for the people of both countries. 

State Minister for Health and Family Welfare Dr MA Muhit was present at the meeting.
