Programs chalked out in Khulna to observe Genocide Day

KHULNA, March 24, 2026 (BSS) – The district administration has taken elaborate programmes to observe Genocide Day on March 25, 2026 in a befitting manner here.

A discussion meeting will be held at 10.30 am at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner’s office marking the Day. 

Besides, educational institutions including schools, colleges and madrasas will arrange discussions and reminiscence sessions on the March 25 genocide and the Great Liberation War, involving eminent persons and valiant freedom fighters at convenient times.

On the occasion, milad mahfil and special prayers will be offered at mosques after Zohr prayers or at convenient times, while special prayers will also be arranged at temples, churches and other religious institutions.

A symbolic blackout will be observed from 10.30 pm to 10.31 pm for one minute across the district, excluding key point installations (KPI) and emergency establishments. 

In addition, rare photographs and documentaries highlighting the genocide will be screened at Shaheed Hadis Park in the city at 6.30 pm.
Meanwhile, Khulna University (KU) has taken a two-day programme to observe Genocide Day on March 25 and Independence and National Day on March 26.

As part of the Genocide Day programme, a one-minute blackout will be observed on the KU campus at 8.00 pm.

Programmes for March 26 include hoisting of the national flag at 7.00 am in front of the administrative building, placing wreaths at the university Shaheed Minar with a rally at 7:15 am, followed by doa mahfil at the central mosque after Zohr prayers and special prayers at the university temple
