GOPALGANJ, April 12, 2026 (BSS) - Police have arrested a drug dealer along 
with a large quantity of illegal drugs and cash during a special operation in 
Kashiani upazila of the district early Sunday.

The arrested man Sheikh Shahidul Islam Akash, 38, was taken into custody on 
the spot. A case has been filed against him under the Narcotics Control Act 
with Kashiani Police Station.

On a tip-off, a police team led by Assistant Superintendent of Police 
(Muksudpur Circle) Nafisur Rahman conducted a drive in West Ratail area 
around 3.30 am and arrested Akash and recovered 10,207 yaba tablets, two 
kilograms of ganja and Taka 4,26,800 in cash from a house, said 
Superintendent of Police (SP) Md. Habibullah at a press briefing this noon.

Senior police officials, including Additional Superintendent of Police Md. 
Sarwar Hossain, Assistant Superintendent Nafisur Rahman, and Officer-in-
Charge (OC) of Kashiani Police Station Mohammad Mahfuzur Rahman, were present 
at the press briefing.

At least five cases related to drug offenses were pending against him.
