SATKHIRA, April 12, 2026 (BSS) - A mobile court operation in Moutala Union in Kaliganj upazila of the district seized a large quantity of illegally stored
fuel oil on Sunday afternoon.

The operation was jointly conducted by the district administration, members
of the Bangladesh Army, and the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB). The team
recovered six barrels containing approximately 1,200 liters of diesel from
the residence and personal godown of Moutala Union Parishad Chairman Md.
Ferdaus Morol.

During the drive, authorities also found 16 additional empty barrels at the
premises. According to mobile court sources, the raid was carried out
following a confidential tip-off alleging that a significant amount of fuel
had been stockpiled to create an artificial shortage.

The mobile court, led by Additional District Magistrate and Executive
Magistrate Istiak Ahmed Apu, fined Md. Ferdaus Morol Taka 10,000 for
illegally storing fuel.

Officials involved in the operation said that such enforcement actions will
continue across the district to prevent hoarding and ensure market stability.

"No leniency will be shown to those attempting to create artificial crises of
essential commodities," the magistrate added.
