Hawker killed in Jhenaidah road crash

JHENAIDAH, April 12, 2026 (BSS) - A hawker was killed after being crushed between two buses in Kaliganj upazila of the district on Sunday afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Usman Ali, 40, a resident of Helai village under Kaliganj Municipality.

According to police and eyewitnesses, the accident occurred around 3:30 pm at the main bus stand of the upazila town. Usman Ali was selling goods between moving vehicles. A passenger bus of Shapla Paribahan was parked at the stand and at that time, another bus approaching from behind struck him, trapping him between the two vehicles.

Locals immediately rescued the injured hawker and rushed him to Kaliganj Upazila Health Complex, where on-duty doctors declared him dead.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kaliganj Police Station Jellal Hossain confirmed the matter.
