Two killed in Kushtia road accident

KUSHTIA, April 17, 2026 (BSS) - Two people were killed and at least three others injured in a collision between a truck and a pickup van in Kushtia early today.

The accident occurred around 6:30 am in the Bittipara area on the Kushtia-Jhenaidah highway under Kushtia Sadar upazila.

The deceased were identified as Sifayet, 35, and Bikash, 45, both residents of Narail district.

According to police and local sources, a pickup van carrying horses was heading towards Narail in the morning. When it reached the Bittipara area, it crashed into the rear of a truck that was parked on the roadside. 

Sifayet died on the spot while Bikash succumbed to his injuries at Kushtia General Hospital while undergoing treatment.

Three horses on the pickup van were also killed in the accident.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kushtia Highway Police Station Abu Obayed said the bodies have been kept at the hospital morgue and the injured are receiving treatment at the hospital.
