Fakhrul vows to eradicate poverty, improve people's living standards

DHAKA, April 17, 2026 (BSS) - Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today expressed his determination to work collectively to eradicate poverty, improve people's living standards and transform their lives.

Fakhrul, also BNP secretary general made the remarks as the chief guest at the Junior Chamber International (JCI) Carnival-2026 held at Pepper Tree BD Event Venue on Madani Avenue in the capital.

He said JCI Bangladesh's role in developing youth leadership and promoting social service activities is highly commendable.

The minister also called for expanding the organization's activities further to contribute more effectively to the country's development.

Fakhrul noted that Bangladesh has made significant progress in the 56 years since independence, highlighting food security and agricultural development as key achievements.

Addressing the youth, he said they must come forward with new dreams and enthusiasm to help build the nation, stressing that active youth participation is essential for sustainable development and poverty eradication.

JCI Bangladesh is a non-profit global platform for young people that works to develop leadership, social responsibility and bring about positive change.
