7 sent to jail in CKDU extortion case

DHAKA, April 17, 2026 (BSS) - A Dhaka court today sent seven accused to jail in connection with an extortion case involving prominent kidney specialist Dr Kamrul Islam's Center for Kidney Diseases & Urology Hospital in Shyamoli of the capital.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ariful Islam passed the order after a hearing, following a petition filed by investigating officer sub-inspector Sabbir Ahmed.

The accused sent to jail are main suspect Moin Uddin, Sawon Hossen, Sopon Kazi, Falan Mia, Md Rubel, Md Suman and Md Liton Mia.

CKDU operation theatre in-charge Md Hanif filed the case with Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station on April 11, naming Moin Uddin as the prime accused.
