
DHAKA, April 17, 2026 (BSS)– Five more people have died of measles in the country in the last 24 hours of which two deaths are suspected to have been caused by the disease, according to the latest DGHS report.
A total of 1,115 new suspected measles cases were identified across the country in the past 24 hours, while 127 cases were confirmed through laboratory testing, the report said.
March 15 to April 17, a total of 3,192 measles cases have been confirmed, while 21,467 people have been identified as suspected cases.
During the same period, 11,243 patients have recovered and returned home from hospitals.
Since March 15, a total of 37 people have died from confirmed measles infections, while 174 deaths have been reported among suspected cases during the same period.
The highest number of suspected cases was reported in Dhaka Division, with 9,274 infections, including 1,965 confirmed cases.
