Simul inaugurates canal re-excavation in Pabna

PABNA, April 17, 2026 (BSS) - Lawmaker of Pabna-5 constituency Advocate Shamsur Rahman Simul Biswas today inaugurated the re-excavation work of a 10-kilometre canal of the Ratnai River at Shankarpur area under Maligachha union in Sadar upazila.
 
On the occasion a programme was arranged at a local mosque with Deputy Commissioner Aminul Islam in the chair.
 
Officials of the local administration, water development board, political leaders and journalists were present. Former Sadar Upazila BNP general secretary Rehanul Islam Bulal conducted the programme.
 
Lawmaker Simul urged officials to perform duties above party lines and ensure citizens’ services. He stressed coordinated efforts of government, administration and political and social forces for sustainable development.
 
He said canal re-excavation would reduce water logging, boost agriculture and protect the environment.
