Official fined Tk 2 lakh, jailed 15 days for illegal hill cutting in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, April 17, 2026 (BSS) - A mobile court in Sitakunda upazila has fined an official of AKH Logistics World Tk 2 lakh and sentenced him to 15 days of simple imprisonment for illegally cutting hills.

The drive was led by Executive Magistrate Abdullah Al Mamun, Assistant Commissioner (Land) of Sitakunda, in the Barabkunda area. The convict, Farid Ahmed, served as security in-charge of the company.

He was found guilty of violating the Bangladesh Environment Protection Act, 1995. Inspector Chandan Biswas of the Department of Environment, Chattogram District Office, prosecuted the case.
