2 construction laborers die in water-tank in Narayanganj

NARAYANGANJ, April 16, 2026 (BSS) - Two laborers succumbed to death at a water-tank of an under construction building in Fatulla thana here.

The deceased were identified as Delwar Mridha, 35, son of Altaf Mridha of Vangra village under Bauphal Upazila of Patuakhali and Md Rana, 22, son of Abdur Rahim of Palashbari Upazila under Gaibandha. 

Both the deceased used to live in Fatulla Upazila with their families in rent house. 

According to local sources, while working at the construction site, Rana climbed down to underground water-tank to bring wood for shattering works in the noon. As Rana didn't return for a long time, Delwar went down to check Rana and both of them lost consciousness.

On information, fire service team, later, rescued them and admitted them to Narayanganj 300-bed Hospital where doctors on duty announced the both as death.

Dr. Shahadat Hossain of Narayanganj 300-bed Hospital said both the laborers died before bringing them to hospital. 

Confirming the incident, Fatulla Model Thana acting officer-in-charge Mohammad Mahbub Alam said the dead bodies were sent to General Hospital Morgue for post-mortem and legal actions are being taken in this regard.
