Seminar recalls Nawab Ali’s contributions to education

TANGAIL, April 17, 2026 (BSS)- Speakers at a seminar here today highlighted the contributions of Syed Nawab Ali Chowdhury to education sector and called for preserving his legacy for future generations.

The seminar was arranged by Nawab Ali Chowdhury Research Institute marking 97th death anniversary of Nawab Ali Chowdhury. 

Participants recalled Nawab Ali Chowdhury’s immense contributions to establishment and expansion of education in Bengal, including financial support for establishment of the Dhaka University and 38 educational institutions across the country.

Despite his remarkable contributions, the speakers observed that Nawab Ali Chowdhury has not received due recognition. They urged authorities to take initiatives to promote research on his life and works and to inform the younger generation about his legacy.

A keynote paper on the life and works of Nawab Ali Chowdhury was presented by Principal Abdul Bari, also president of the research institute. Director of the institute and Dhanbari upazila BNP president Principal Azizur Rahman delivered the main speech.

Dhanbari Upazila Nirbahi Officer Nurjahan Akter Sathi, Principal Akhtaruzzaman of Sarishabari College, local journalists Zainal Abedin and Anwar Sadat Imran spoke, among others.
