GAIBANDHA, Apr 25, 2026 (BSS) - A man and a minor were killed in separate road accidents in Gobindaganj upazila of the district on Friday.

The deceased were identified as Miar Uddin, 50, son of Abdur Rahman of Malekabag area, and Akash Miah, 5, son of expatriate Mintu Miah of Katabari area.

Police said Miar Uddin was on his way to a mosque for prayers, walking along the highway, when a speeding truck ran him over, killing him on the spot. 

On information, members of the highway police rushed to the scene and sent the body to Gaibandha General Hospital morgue for autopsy.

In a separate incident, minor Akash Miah was killed while crossing the road in the Katabari area Police recovered the body and sent it to the hospital morgue.

Md Mozaffar Rahman, Officer-in-Charge of Gobindaganj Highway Police Station, confirmed the incidents, adding that two separate cases have been filed and efforts are underway to identify the vehicles involved.
