College student electrocuted in Satkhira

SATKHIRA, April 27, 2026 (BSS) - A college student died after being electrocuted in Ashasuni upazila of the district on Monday.

The deceased was identified as Sujan Sarkar, 25, son of Sachchidananda Sarkar and a student of Satkhira City College.

The incident occurred around 10:30 am in Nakna village under Pratapnagar union. 

Sujan entered his house in the morning to sweep paddy. While attempting to plug in a paddy threshing machine, he came into contact with a live electrical source due to a short circuit and was electrocuted.

Family members quickly rescued him and rushed him to Satkhira Medical Hospital. However, he was pronounced dead by the attending physician in the afternoon while undergoing treatment.

Shamim Ahmed Khan, Officer-in-Charge of Ashasuni Police Station, confirmed the matter.
