Top terrorist held with firearms in Hathazari

CHATTOGRAM, April 27, 2026 (BSS) – Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested a top terrorist in Hathazari upazila of the district.

The arrestee has been identified as Mona, 35, said Police Superintendent Mohammad Nazir Ahmed Khan during a press briefing at his office this afternoon.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of police conducted a drive at a five-storey building in Chikandandi Union of Hathazari Upazila at around 3 pm on Sunday and arrested Mona with a pistol with a magazine, three single-barrel shotguns, 11 rounds of live pistol ammunition, rifle bullets, 17 rounds of shotgun cartridges, a machete and a switchblade knife, Tk 51,000 in cash, and several mobile phones of different models.

During the initial interrogation, Mona confessed to being involved in illegal arms trading and provided information about his involvement in various terrorist activities, including collecting weapons and selling them in different areas.

Based on his information, two other criminals – Hridoy (30) and Raju (32) – were also arrested.

A case has been registered against Mona under the Arms Act at Hathazari Model Police Station.
