Son gets life term, mother 7 years in Pirojpur murder case

PIROJPUR, April 30, 2026 (BSS) - A court here today sentenced a man to life imprisonment and his mother to seven years in prison for their roles in the murder of motorcycle rider Milan Bahadur and the subsequent concealment of his body in Nesarabad upazila of the district in 2018.

District and Sessions Judge Md. Mojibur Rahman pronounced the verdict in the afternoon.

The convicted are Md. Tajim, 28, and his mother Rehana Begum, 50, residents of Sohagdal village under Nesarabad upazila of the district. 

Tajim was handed a life sentence along with a fine of Taka 10,000, with an additional six months' imprisonment in default. Rehana Begum received a seven-year sentence and a fine of Taka 5,000 for her involvement in hiding the body.

Rehana Begum was present in court during the announcement of the verdict, while Tajim remains absconding.

Following the incident, a murder case was filed naming five individuals. After investigation, police submitted charges against four people. Based on the evidence presented, the court convicted Tajim and Rehana Begum, while acquitting the remaining two accused.

Public Prosecutor of the court Abul Kalam Akon confirmed the matter.
