Mostofa, Tariqul elected president, general secretary of Khulna Press Club

KHULNA, Apr 30, 2026 (BSS) – Mostofa Sarwar, editor and publisher of the local daily Probartan, and Md Tariqul Islam, editor and publisher of the local daily Shomoyer Khobor, have been elected president and general secretary, respectively, in the Khulna Press Club (KPC) election-2026.

The election was held in a free, fair and peaceful atmosphere today.

Deputy Director (Local Government) at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office and chairman of the election conducting committee, Md Ariful Islam, announced the results after counting the votes.

Voting was held uninterrupted from 9am to 1pm today at the Journalist Liaquat Ali Auditorium of the Khulna Press Club. Out of a total of 172 voters, 167 cast their votes.

According to the election commission, Mostofa Sarwar was elected president, securing 113 votes, while Md Tariqul Islam was elected general secretary with 94 votes.

Bimal Saha, publisher of the online portal Usher Alo, was elected treasurer with 103 votes.
